Redundancy payments amended

As a result of the new Employment Equality (Age) Regulations the upper age limit on unfair dismissal and redundancy was removed as well as the lower age for pay.

This means the bands now are as follows:

  • Up to the age of 21- ½ week’s service per each completed year;
  • 22-40 years of age- 1 week’s pay for each completed year and
  • 41+-1.5 weeks’ pay for each completed year of service.

A ready reckoner is available at www.tinyurl.com for those who may wish to do a quick compute.

The upper limit for the weekly salary above (as at 2006) is £290.
