Watch out for bogus websites

A law firm has been hit by a copycat website that attempted to scam US citizens by sending out emails from the address claiming recipients had inherited money.

Without there being any UK victim however the Metropolitan Police have been powerless to act.

The scam involved copying the trade union law firm website and using a London address for mail responses which turned out to be the Instituto Cervantes-the Spanish Government’s language and cultural centre in London for reasons unknown.

The phone number given leads only to an answer phone and messages left have not been returned.
