New Unfair Trading Law Explained-Part III-aggressively commercial practices

Aggressive commercial practises are now prohibited under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008.

Aimed to stop harassment, coercion and undue influence this law adds to existing common law provisions such as undue influence and criminal provisions.

The provisions cover for example the pressurised selling of car loans and of refusing to return goods when extra work without permission has been carried out. The position is of course different if your signed terms and conditions so allow-prior knowledge and permission having been obtained.

It therefore makes more important than ever before the need to have good terms and conditions in place.
