IPO publishes booklet on licensing IP

The UK Intellectual Property Office (IPO) has published a booklet entitled How licensing intellectual property can help your business. The booklet contains an introduction to the concept of licensing intellectual property (IP), and explains why businesses grant and take IP licences. It also includes a helpful checklist of the common issues to consider before entering into a licence agreement, such as the rights to be granted, IP protection, warranties and confidentiality. The booklet was produced by the IPO-led Business-to-Business Licensing Working Group. The group was set up in response to the Gowers Review of Intellectual Property, which highlighted the fact that UK businesses experienced problems with IP licensing.
